CTO / Founding Engineer

We are looking for a Founding Engineer / CTO to join the After5 team as a technical co-founder-level hire. You will own our infrastructure, lead engineering, and help shape the product alongside the founding team. We are a Next.js + Supabase shop and moving fast — the right person will be comfortable going deep on both code and architecture.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture, reliability, and scaling of our platform
- Ship features end-to-end across the full stack (Next.js, Supabase, Postgres)
- Lead technical hiring as we scale the engineering team
- Work directly with founders on product direction and roadmap
- Define and enforce engineering standards, CI/CD, and security practices
- Integrate AI/LLM features including the AI receptionist layer
Requirements
- 5+ years of full-stack engineering experience
- Strong TypeScript and React skills
- Solid understanding of Postgres, relational data modeling, and RLS
- Experience with serverless or edge compute deployments
- Proven ability to design and ship reliable production systems
- Comfortable with ambiguity and early-stage pace
Nice to Haves
- Experience with Next.js App Router and server components
- Familiarity with Supabase and its auth / realtime / storage stack
- Background in multi-tenant SaaS architecture
- Experience integrating LLMs (Claude, OpenAI, etc.) into production products
- Previous founding or early-stage startup experience
